The planned expansion of Dynasteel's plant in Iuka, Mississipi will mean more job opportunities in the metal fabrications trade.
The company's new 42,000-square-foot building will be completed by year end.
The expansion will add production capacity and at least 50 jobs at the 150-employee Yellow Creek Port plant.
Officials say a major challenge for the company has been finding local workers with the welding skills needed for the high-paying jobs they can offer. The company plans to set up a teaching lab at the plant.
Memphis, Tennessee-based Dynasteel produces pollution control equipment used by the Tennessee Valley Authority and other power plants worldwide. It has been in business in Iuka since the 1970s.
