With the rise of gas prices throughout the summer, the US has been forced to evaluate its future energy policy.
In Calvert Cliffs, Maryland, state residents can see the effects of a proposed third reactor in terms of jobs. Unistar/Constellation Energy says building a third reactor would create 4,000 temporary construction jobs and 360 permanent jobs.
Offering a different remedy, a study conducted by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy claims 12,000 “green” jobs could be added to the state by 2025. In order to do so, the study claims an investment in energy efficiency, combined heat and power technology, and better management is necessary.
