Working on projects for government and private agencies, the Energy Engineer will provide energy engineering, energy/water master planning, and retro-commissioning services. You’ll assist field teams with site investigations related to existing HVAC, plumbing and electrical, systems, building automation systems, utility meters, sub-metering, software, hardware, and certifications. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment since you will be working closely with field engineers to evaluate the findings of site investigations and with data analysts to perform energy analyses.

Observe operation of existing HVAC, plumbing, domestic water and selected electrical system operations
Perform expert technical and financial analysis of energy conservation measures, water conservation measures, and renewable energy measures
Consolidate and validate energy and water consumption data and utility bills
Perform design reviews for design projects including LEED/sustainability
Assist in continuous measurement and verification (M&V) tasks
Provide technical assistance to facility managers and assist them in the development of construction projects
Perform benchmarking analyses, including energy and water consumption
Develop energy and water master plans, including renewable energy and combined heat and power studies.
Perform first cost and life-cycle cost analysis and renewable energy feasibility studies.
Track energy and utility cost savings associated with energy projects
5 years of experience in analysis of energy and water systems, including controls, lighting, and commissioning-related activities at healthcare facilities
Ability to effectively communicate thoughts, both in writing and oral presentations
Demonstrated proficiency in energy modeling software packages and energy calculations
Strong analytical skills related to HVAC and plumbing systems
Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel
Ability to read and manipulate energy-related data in a commercial database
Proficient in EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager program
Education, Training and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in mechanical/industrial/energy engineering required
Preferential consideration for Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Professional Engineering (PE) licenses
Must be a U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain security clearance is required
CONUS and OCONUS travel is required
Up to 25% travel
