This position offers those with a strong technical background a chance to learn or enhance your skills in the commercial side of the business and work with the North American sales team to develop a complete technical and commercial solutions for our customers.
In the role of Commercial Application Engineer, you will:
Be responsible for understanding and the technical knowledge of controls applications as applied to GE and/or Non-GE Gas/Steam Turbine control systems and Human Machine Interface (HMI) panels. Responsible for supporting new retrofit sales opportunities by developing technical and commercial offers for Control Solutions suite of offerings
Review and influence customer specifications to assure compliance and/or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations
Support and provides specific project proposal support to regional team as necessary, including strategy, RFQ review/analysis, technical scoping, costing and proposal development as necessary to grow segment business
Provide commercialization support of existing and developing hardware and software products, including joint site visits, sales calls and seminars
Work closely with sales team to develop opportunities, formulate a strategy and present a solution to customers and close deals
Provide potential hardware and service package solutions to provide most costs effective, technically appropriate solution to meet the customerâ€™s need
Make technical presentations to all levels of customer organization
Develop engineering and installation workscopes, schedules and cost estimates to facilitate total scope project offerings
Contribute to and leverage existing technical library of source materials related to industry applications, system configurations / hardware, design standards, etc. to provide timely technical information
Manage and negotiate commercial and contractual risk within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process
Contribute to individual deal strategies to drive both price and hit rate
Provide technical support to execution teams to ensure successful projects
Contribute positively to regional sales, orders, profitability, and ITO quality goals Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in ProposalsEligibility Requirements:
Travel 20%, as required
Green Belt certification (GE Employees Only) Desired Characteristics:
Extensive application / design knowledge of turbine control applications.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred
Effective written and oral communication skills
Effective use of Personal Computer Technologies
Creative solution and problem-solving skills
Commercial and contractual expertise
Field service or requisition engineering experience of more than 5 years preferred
Experience in developing and writing specifications and / or proposals
