Tasks: ABB is seeking an IS Network Engineer I for Atlanta, Georgia location. This role will be responsible to perform the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems. Provide technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN\/MAN\/WAN (local\/metropolitan\/wide area networks). Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering; may have completed an advanced degree, certification, or additional professional training. Work under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment. Consults with senior peers on projects and architectural design. Moderate skills with high level of proficiency. Typically requires four to five years of experience. Typical duties\/responsibilities for engineering may include, but are not limited to the following: \u2022 Research, evaluate, and recommend networking hardware and software such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances, storage, remote access systems, and network management systems. \u2022 Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade local\/metropolitan\/wide area networks (LAN\/MAN\/WAN) and all systems upon which the network depends, such as: Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Remote Access, Wireless, PKI (public key infrastructure), DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP (Domain Name System), RADIUS, TACACS, VLANs (Virtual LAN) NTP (Network Time Protocol), VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow), IPAM (Internet Protocol address management), STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), VTP. \u2022 Install network\/system and perform analysis on network\/system applications. \u2022 Identify, diagnose, and resolve connection, reliability, or performance issues. \u2022 Build relationships with others in the IS community to establish trust, cohesion, awareness, and synergies. \u2022 Partner with key vendors to obtain and maintain required certifications. \u2022 Perform moderately complex engineering, implementation and maintenance tasks on the LAN and\/or WAN. \u2022 Responsible for the on-going assessment and upgrade of networks. \u2022 Collect and analyze data network statistics. \u2022 Research, evaluate and recommend hardware and software. \u2022 Serve as troubleshooter on moderately complex network problems. \u2022 Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third party providers. \u2022 Develop relationships with vendors and investigate sources of equipment and services. \u2022 Review contracts and maintain close contact with existing vendors of equipment and services. \u2022 May evaluate vendor cost and quality of equipment and services. \u2022 Coordinate with vendors on the installation of hardware such as routers, bridges and firewalls. \u2022 Remain informed of new developments and trends; make recommendations to management as such. \u2022 Assist if required to resolve issues with Audio Visual equipment, telephony, video conferencing, etc. \u2022 Assist if required to help reduce costs such as with replacing BT Meet Me with Skype for Business and BT WebEx with Skype for Business. \u2022 Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years\u2019 experience in network engineering. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in computer science engineering. Experience in Network , CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), or equivalent Certification a plus.
