Tasks: ABB is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer for its Crystal Springs, Mississippi location. This role will be responsible for ensuring Quality with potential and existing external suppliers of direct materials and services (DM&S) and quality surveillance at the supplier manufacturing site. This individual will perform supply quality issue resolution including supplier claims preparation. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will lead supplier performance evaluation and supplier quality development activities, establish and maintain local supplier quality related procedures & practices, based on global procedures and secure full supplier management in ProSupply. Manage ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS). This individual will be responsible for working for Suppliers as well as working within SAP modules. You\u2019ll work as part of our Power Grids team, which serves utility, industrial, and commercial customers with products and services to help distribute electricity efficiently and reliably, maintain power quality, and control and manage electrical networks. Typical duties\/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: \u2022 Drive or assist with the supplier qualification\/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and will remain fully qualified and compliant. In addition, will support supplier onboarding. \u2022 Plan and conduct, or ensure, required supplier assessments including assessment reporting and non-conformance reporting. Verify effective closure of assessment non-conformances by the supplier. \u2022 Schedule, monitor and approve supplier part, material and project subcontractor service activities, as applicable. Note: requires often close coordination with other functions\/experts like Engineering and where applicable includes PPAP, (Production Part Approval process). \u2022 Perform required product surveillance at supplier manufacturing site. Ensure supplier approvals match SAP \/ ERP systems info records and limits of supply. \u2022 Ensure systems are maintained, Ensure Audits, document systems and performance are maintained and report on performance. Develop early warning indicators for QMS systems. \u2022 Operationally lead and fast execute upcoming supply issues like quality issues, late deliveries, non-conforming products or project services. For any issue with likely root cause supplier, prepare a claims case for the responsible buyer. \u2022 Develop and support targeted suppliers to achieve conformance with ABB requirements and continual improvement in quality, e.g. reduction of variation; sustainability, service\/delivery performance. \u2022 Decision to develop a supplier to be done in close cooperation with concerned category manager and execution, where possible, to be funded by the supplier. \u2022 Monitor and report supplier performance (KPIs), quality issues, and development actions. Initiate and lead, or support, required Supplier Performance Evaluations (SPE) and secure that the results are shared with the supplier (buyer responsible). \u2022 (Key Role) Implement Local SAP QM for Supplied parts, including Dynamic Supplier Quality, Incoming Sampling and Non Conformance reporting. \u2022 Define & develop with local unit counterparts (Sourcing, Quality, Operations, R&D Research and development \/ Technology) local quality procedures & practices. Ensure that defined systems and practices are in line with existing Group\/Division\/BU instructions and procedures. \u2022 Ensure full and appropriate utilization of ProSupply according to global ABB procedure including required information for supplier classification by our category teams is available. \u2022 Ensure full utilization of local system for reporting, monitoring and disposition of quality and on time delivery (OTD). Ensure supplier quality cost is reported according to ABB procedure. \u2022 Complete special quality\/quality management projects, as required. \u2022 The role requires close cooperation with category teams, responsible buyers, Q&OPEX, Sustainability\/HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Research and development R&D\/Engineering and project tender teams, among others. \u2022 Represents the \u201cVoice of Supplier\u201d to ABB, e.g. R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Quality, and Manufacturing. Requirements: Basic Qualification: \u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering and minimum of five years of experience in quality. Preferred Qualification: \u2022 MBA is a plus and experience in a manufacturing environment \u2022 SAP experience \u2022 Strong analytical skills, especially with data analysis, is heavily preferred \u2013 proven experience working with failure analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis), FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, & Criticality Analysis), test engineering, and\/or product reliability is a plus. \u2022 Recent experience working with data-driven analytical methodologies for industrial quality applications \u2013 especially Statistical Process Control [SPC], Six Sigma, Process Capability (Cp, CpK), and\/or Process Performance (Pp, PpK) Analysis \u2022 Strong familiarity with ISO-9001 standards is preferred; expertise in QS-9000 will also be considered. \u2022 Experience working with transformer systems and\/or related technologies (e.g. electromagnetics \/ magnetics, induction systems, power electronics, power products, inverters, etc.) \u2022 Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in English.
