Senior Power Engineer The Senior Power Engineer is an individual contributor who will provide technical leadership in power technology research and development. The perfect candidate has experience developing devices/equipment for power distribution applications; has strong technical understand of power theory and technology trends; and, most importantly, is passionate about realizing innovative products in a start-up environment with a diverse team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities R&D activities for new power products: Lead engineering project teams consisting of electrical, mechanical, and reliability engineers. Define technical and compliance requirements based on product concepts. Develop detailed equipment specifications, block diagrams, component selection, and bill of materials. Lead performance analysis and modeling, including thermal assessment, power flow simulations, FMEA (failure modes and effects analysis) etc. Support/lead the development, identification, and/or implementation of communication protocols, etc. Support/lead the development of testing and verification/validation programs. Lead the acquisition of compliance certifications (e.g., UL). Support project management and communication to executive management and other groups. Required Skills & Experience Master’s Degree in Electrical, Power. 10 years of experience in power electronics, power systems, industrial controls, or electrical construction industry. 2 year of experience in an engineering or product development role at an electrical equipment manufacturer. 1 year of experience engineering protection devices, inverters, or other electronics for .100KW systems. Strong understanding of IEEE and Underwriter Laboratory power standards. Working knowledge of communication protocols for Power/control devices and SCADA. Preferred Skills & Experience PhD preferred in Electrical, Power. Experience developing voltage converters (AC-DC, DC-DC), circuit breakers, relays, electrical switchgear/boards, and/or control systems. Experience conduction building power distribution system studies including short circuit, arc fault, and time-current coordination analyses. Technical understanding of renewable energy generators (photovoltaic, wind, etc.) Experience engineering systems that have—or couple with—battery energy systems. FTE can be based out of bay area, phoenix or Seattle. Pls apply with salary.
