Position Overview: This position will be in Southern California Edison\u2019s (SCE\u2019s) Strategy, Integrated Planning, and Performance organization. The successful candidate will lead the development and application of SCE\u2019s capacity expansion models and production cost simulation models that take into account market structure and conditions, generation resources including renewables and demand-side resources, and California\/WECC transmission topology to create SCE\u2019s integrated resource plan; support SCE\u2019s RPS procurement, integration and strategical initiatives, and transmission\/distribution investments; and prepare presentations on the studies\/methodologies and results\/findings and communicate with the senior management. Typical Responsibilities: Leads the development of production cost simulation models and methodologies that take into account market structure and conditions, economic trends, all generation resources including renewables and demand-side resources, and transmission topology. Leads the development of SCE\u2019s integrated resource plan to meet the California regulatory requirements. Expert in sources of data and resources available to access information. Accountable for the accuracy and integrity of findings and recommendations. Operates, tests, maintains, expands, and develops quantitative forecasting, modeling and analysis tools, to produce data to support power procurement transactions, hedging, position management, regulatory reporting, in energy markets. Continues to develop and enhance methodologies to support the market valuation of capacity, energy, Ancillary Services, and other products of interest to SCE. Provides the resource plans to support SCE\u2019s resource planning, T&D planning and reliability study, financial reporting and other activities. Provides adequate the Quality Control (QC) and review the forecast\/analysis work of junior staff. Effectively leads and participate in the selection and implementation of Price Forecasting tools. Effectively leads and participate in the selection and implementation of fundamental simulation models. Provides training in the use and enhancement of fundamental models and price forecasting models to junior staff. Leads and coordinates the efforts to meet SCE\u2019s new development and requirement needs. Collaborates with IT personnel, consultants and vendors in developing analytical tools and analysis for SCE\u2019s activities. Independently vet\/validate consultant methodology and provide feedback to internal and external stakeholders. Maintains a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices. Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor Degree or higher in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. Must have experience with power systems, or energy markets Must have working experience at least 5 years of experience with power systems, energy market, statistical, mathematical, or financial modeling Desired qualifications: Graduate Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field Typically possesses 7 or more years of experience building, analyzing, maintaining complex production cost simulation\/unit commitment, optimization, or power system modeling in the LMP or energy markets. Demonstrated experience with commercial production cost simulation models. Demonstrated experience with power system market operations, operational planning, trading, and\/or analysis of energy markets. Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, and analyzing market trends. Demonstrated experience in the energy markets or working in a utility environment. Demonstrated understanding of the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), or other ISO market design. Demonstrated experience researching information, analyzing it, preparing reports and making recommendations. Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated experience completing multiple projects concurrently while adjusting to changing priorities. Demonstrated experience interfacing and collaborating with clients, peers, management, and other departments. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
