The Performance Engineer II will be supporting Gibson Station in Owensville, IN.
This is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied.
The Performance engineer will be tasked with:
Providing technical assistance/troubleshooting in resolving design, operation and maintenance problems and contact internal and external experts as required.
Supporting development and management of the facilitys capital and O&M budgets.
Diagnosing mechanical problems using detailed drawings and Operation & Maintenance manuals.
Responsibility for monthly reports related to unit derates, outages, and generation
Performing boiler inspections, creating boiler repair plans, and troubleshooting combustion issues
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in their area of expertise
Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities under the guidance of higher-level employees
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondences, documentation, calculations and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems
Conducts basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity
Possesses knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
Maintains accurate records and files
Supports the companys goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Corporate office or plant environment
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a Masters degree in Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
The successful candidate must possess the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Successful candidate should model Environmental, Health, and Safety principles, focus on unit availability and reliability, and develop engineering solutions to complex problems.
Understanding of the basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
Understanding of the basic principles of project management
Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Experience in the utility industry
