The Senior Commissioning Engineer - Energy Storage is a key member of the Energy Storage Service team and will provide customers and technical users with hands-on technical support in support of customer training, system commissioning, and resolving system operational issues impacting system performance.
As the Senior Commissioning Engineer - Energy Storage, you will:
Lead MW scale battery energy storage system startups in a safe manner
Coordinate energization work sequences, schedules and punch list preparation / completion as required
Conduct final system tests in accordance with contract requirements, collect data, interpret results and prepare final test report
Interface with Customer Operations, Engineering, Project Management and Site Management in support of battery energy storage system commissioning
Conduct training of customer personnel via a train-the-trainer program to enable them to operate equipment safely and effectively
Assist in the development of detailed commissioning procedures and plans
Provide technical support for fault isolation and troubleshooting during commissioning and post commissioning as needed
Provide front-line technical response to inquiries received by the customer response center, identifying potential problems and coordinating troubleshooting activities with numerous internal organizations
Provide local / remote technical support for fault isolation, troubleshooting and system repair using system control software and system knowledge
Respond to emergency request for troubleshooting and repair of assigned customers
Develop and capture technical problem solving knowledge, communicating with other organizations to enable effective resolution of customer problems and inquiries
Identify product failures and assist in identifying possible root causes
Travels to and remains at all assigned job-sites until assigned tasks are completed
Execute administrative responsibilities, including service reports, job safety analysis, training course completions, quality compliance, GE policy compliance, expense reporting and logging / issue tracking
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in testing, operation and field support for megawatt scale electrical power generation and distribution equipment / systems, including Li-Ion battery, DC subsystems and power electronics / conversion equipment
Ability and willingness to travel 40% of the time to project sites dispersed globally
Expert understanding of networking, including configuring IP address setting, network traffic and Microsoft Remote Desktop
PLC programming knowledge (ControlST), including WorkstationST, Alarm Viewer and ToolboxST
MarkVIe hardware knowledge, including network topology, system commissioning, operation and diagnostics knowledge
Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Windows programs
Energy storage system commissioning experience
SCADA and Remote Operating System experience
HMI experience (i.e., CIMPLICITY)
Intellectual curiosity and technical aptitude necessary to rapidly learn new technologies and customer applications
Ability to connect as a trusted peer at all levels of the customer organization and with GE colleagues
Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem solving
Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexible
Excellent oral and written communication skills
