This is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment beginning in August 2020.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach general biology, ecology, and other science courses. The successful candidate will also be appointed Director of the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability (CRES), which may involve assuming the role of the principal investigator of several grants. Preference will be given to candidates who can also be credentialed to teach other areas of science or math.
Responsibilities include developing a research program involving significant participation of undergraduate students, professional activity, and service to both the University and community. All faculty are expected to contribute to the success of the current Quality Enhancement Plan “Cultivating a Culture and Curriculum for Undergraduate Research.” The faculty member will be required to evaluate and use current technology in courses and to maintain a positive educational relationship with students and colleagues. Other duties include academic advising, curriculum development, and committee service and performing other duties required to meet organizational needs.
Candidates must possess a doctorate in an appropriate field in biology or ecology. ABD will be considered. Course development and curriculum design experience as well as evidence of a commitment to working with under-prepared students are also desirable. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach with technology. Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills are also desirable.
