Profile

We are seeking an experienced asset engineer with our oil & gas client in Carlsbad New Mexico. This position does require travel to assets within the region. This company offers a competitive salary, bonus and benefits structure. Relocation assistance is available for out of state/area candidates.
Responsibilities:
Asset Engineers in the COMPANY Regional Engineering Groups have the following roles:
1. Day to day technical engineering support and GAP analysis for assigned operating facilities including natural gas gathering, conditioning, dehydration, treating, cryogenic NGL recovery, fractionation, compression, pumps, storage, measurement and utilities as applicable.
2. Responsible to perform or support process simulation modeling, process optimization, equipment design, equipment specification, cost estimating, technical drawing review, Plant turn around planning, and Process Safety Management.
3. Small asset project development including scope identification, design, cost estimation, management and reporting.
4. Communicating and coordinating activities involving Operations, Marketing, Safety, Executive Management and Commercial interests. Interfacing with these groups is necessary for business development, planning/scheduling plant downtime, product disposition and product specification issues.
5. Business development role for this position serves to ‘screen’ ideas and initiatives for further review by confirming business assumptions and equipment applicability. Individuals in this position serve on ad-hoc technical teams as well as incident investigation teams.
The Asset Engineer performs the following essential functions:
1. Gather data, evaluate, simulate, troubleshoot and recommend actions to optimize each of the following types of gas processing systems as applicable:
Amine treating, Solid Bed treating, Dehydration, Refrigeration, Demethanizer tower, Heat Medium Systems, Regeneration Systems, Compression, Expanders, Pumps, Heat Exchangers,
Product Storage, Bulk Storage, Utilities, Instrument Air Systems, Sulfur Recovery Units, Incinerators (Thermal Oxidizers), Fluid Separation Equipment, Product Recovery Efficiencies, other fractionation towers
Air Cooled Heat Exchangers, Helium Recovery Units, Nitrogen Rejection Units, Various sizes of pipe involved in gas gathering, NGL and residue transport pipeline systems
2. Employ various process simulation software including Aspen products (Hysys), BR&E ProMax, Gregg WinFlow and more limited application software for valve sizing.
3. Develop cost estimates for various small jobs. Perform simple economic analyses and preparing appropriate documentation for AFE’s, AFD’s and Operations tracking number accounting. Follow COMPANY’s Project Management Process at a level commensurate with the size of the Asset job. This element of the Asset Engineer’s work includes purchasing equipment, DOA approvals and some account coding in the various accounting systems.
4. Gather data, evaluate, identify equipment and services to be procured, plan, schedule and coordinate Facility Turnarounds. This will include working closely with Mechanical Integrity Inspectors, various specialized contract service providers, equipment vendors, Safety systems contractors, COMPANY Safety, Marketing/Commercial, Environmental, Operations, Corporate Technical Services, Executive Management and Legal/Tax/Accounting as necessary.
5. Support various PSM (Process Safety Management) activities including but not limited to participation in PHA’s, MOC’s, PSSR’s, Incident Investigations, Safety Meetings and Safety Teams. The PSM component of this job will include assistance in obtaining and updating facility equipment records (drawings, specification sheets and other Manufacturer information) critical to the safe operation and maintenance of the facility. Preparation, mark-up, review and confirmation of P&ID’s, PFD’s and other technical drawings represents a significant component of the Asset Engineer’s work.
6. Asset Engineers may participate in new facility construction projects as an Asset representative for design reviews, drawing reviews, equipment specification reviews, and other technical reviews. Participation may include certain PSM related responsibilities during start-up of new projects/facilities.
7. Asset Engineers will be provided opportunities to present their work and skills to COMPANY Management. These opportunities to communicate status, recommendations and other information to management provide excellent practice to develop presentation skills including development of all types of presentation media.
Will Involve the AE with Operational issues, problems and compliance issues,Maintain communication on the changing priorities
Be knowledgeable in the normal operating conditions and current operating conditions of the facilities
Flowrates, Temperatures, Pressures
System Limitations
Be the Technical resource for the Operations, Safety and Environmental groups.
Advise Commercial and Project Engineers so they understand the details/limitation of

Qualifications
1. B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or another Engineering discipline combined with significant natural gas gathering and processing experience specific to the essential functions listed above.
2. Functional knowledge/expertise in the use of Aspen Hysys, BR&E ProMax and WinFlow process simulation software.
3. Competent in all Microsoft Office applications (Xcel, Word…).
4. Competent in interpretation of P&ID’s and other engineering drawings.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Good presentation skills.
7. Excellent analytical skills with a strong understanding of customer relations.
8. Must have the ability to work independently as well as being an effective team member.
9. Current driver’s license required.
