We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to provide project management and mechanical design services for a refinery operations team. Projects may include new capital projects and modifications needed to properly maintain and optimize existing operating units.  Management of multiple projects concurrently is required (up to $5,000,000).  Additional assignments and responsibilities may be required depending on an individual Area Engineers knowledge, experience, and work load.


Project Management / Controls

*Applying project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout. *Managing multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner. *Coordinating work of in-house designers and outside engineering contractors *Developing scope, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects. *Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives. *Conferring with management and project stakeholders throughout a project life cycle.

Area / Project Team Support

*Provide engineering and design support for unit shutdowns and turnarounds. *Attend Area Team meetings. Be an active participant, champion Marathon’s Project Management Process (MPMP). 


*Ensure Management of Change (MOC) process is followed for all projects. *Participating in area HAZOP reviews and incident investigations. *Ensure projects are properly documented and all process safety information (PSI) and mechanical integrity information is updated.


*Specifying engineered items and equipment for refinery projects. *Reviewing drawings, documents, and equipment datasheets to meet refinery needs and company specifications. *Understand and apply engineering codes and specs to ensure project designs meet applicable standards.


Minimum (Required) Qualifications

*Bachelor's Degree (or above) in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. *Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. *A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

*Minimum of 3 years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.  *Experience with engineering and construction of refining or petrochemical industry projects.
