Crane Operator (Pinellas EfW facility)

Responsible for the operation of the refuse crane. Charge the feed hoppers, maintain the correct levels of refuse fuel in the boiler hoppers, mix and level refuse in the pit and observe the tipping of delivery trucks for unacceptable and hazardous waste.
Perform routine inspections of the overhead cranes, grapples to ensure the integrity of the equipment.
Perform routine house keeping duties as assigned.
Cross train to be able to operate the front end loader
Assist with the duties of loader operator and ash loader operator
Participate in boiler cleanings
Train to become qualified as a Utility Operator
Perform other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous experience in the operation of heavy industrial machinery, or demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals. Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.
