Utility Operator -- Renewable Operation Center (ROC) We are looking for talented self-starters with imagination, creativity and vision. Summary The Utility Renewable Operation Center team operating out of Boston Utility Operation Center (UROC). The UROC monitors wind and solar farms on a 24x7x365 basis and is the first to respond to various events. The UROC Operator will monitor activity, performance and operations at wind and solar farms using cutting edge technology. The UROC Operator will monitor turbine status, substation status, and other key operational elements with a goal to maximize production and support problem resolution while ensuring safety. The UROC Operator will coordinate response and repair between various utilities, field operation staff, and vendors. The UROC Operator will also be responsible for complying with all regulatory requirements governing required response time in incident management. Responsibilities: Monitor performance and operations of wind turbines and solar systems operated within the UROC. Analyze data and identify issues, outages or trends. Respond to events and escalate to the on-call technicians to troubleshoot as necessary. Work with work load coordinators to ensure priority on existing work orders. Update, close and route resolved work orders. Advise, coordinate and implement actions to maximize production from the wind turbines and solar generators. Coordinate power system switching operations and serve as the primary interface between site operating staff, utilities, and independent system operators. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to control wind turbines, solar inverters, and substation components; respond to events or alarms. Communicate with internal and external clients on fleet operations. Answer phones during business hours and on-call periods. Maintain daily logs and prepare reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Write or contribute to instructions, procedures and manuals following documentation standards to guide end users. Interact with various information systems personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems and suggest changes. Required Qualifications: Associate's degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent relevant experience. Completed North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) certification within 12 months and maintain the certification on ongoing basis. (Will consider NERC certification which is not completed or in progress) Ability to perform reliably and consistently in time sensitive/high pressure situations; ability to make critical decisions and communicate effectively in a fast paced environment. Expertise at troubleshooting problems and working effectively as a team. Able to effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet established deadlines. Passionate and enthusiastic about alternative energy. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Power Plant Engineering Technology, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is a plus but not required 1-2 years experience in power systems operation, energy, or substation control systems.
