Through the Center, Deloitte s Energy & Resources group leads the debate on critical topics on the minds of executivesfrom the impact of legislative and regulatory policy, to operational efficiency, to sustainable and profitable growth. We provide comprehensive solutions through a global network of specialists and thought leaders. With locations in Houston and Washington, DC, the Center offers interaction through seminars, roundtables and other forms of engagement, where established and growing companies can come together to learn, discuss, and debate. Work you ll doThe Research Manager will work closely with the Center s Executive Director and Deloitte s senior practice leaders to develop a portfolio of research deliverables that grab the attention and provoke the thinking of energy executives. The aim of these deliverables is to provide internal practitioners and the business development organization a competitive edge in interacting with clients and to position Deloitte as a recognized source of insight and expertise on the energy and resources industry (oil and gas, electric power, and renewable energy). Product types include in-depth research reports, short articles, bylines, presentations, interviews, videos, podcasts, infographics, and webinars. The Research Manager will lead projects that use primary and secondary research and data analysis to develop penetrating insights that reframe issues and spark debate. In this role you will:Author and co-author thought leadership focused on the energy and resources industry (oil and gas, electric power, and renewable energy).Collaborate with Deloitte partners, principals, and managing directors to develop research projects critical to their clients.Conduct statistical analysis to develop predictive and extrapolative insights.Make complex concepts easy to understand through data visualization and analytical frameworks.Coordinate key projects and data collection processes for studies, working with team members and leadership.Ensure that research is created using credible qualitative and quantitative methodologies and based on key insights and findings from the studies. Generate unique insights using structured and unstructured data.Identify internal and external information sources, build effective working relationships with subject matter experts within the firm and the marketplace, and conduct effective interviews.Integrate vendor-provided elements, third-party interviews, and publicly available information into research projects. Possess and maintain excellent knowledge of the energy and resources industry (oil and gas, electric power, and renewable energy).The teamDeloitte s Center for Energy Solutions (the Center ), part of the firm s US Energy & Resources practice, is a source of unique insights on the most important issues facing senior-level decision-makers across the energy industry. We offer an integrated view of energy issues, delivered through a mix of research, industry events and roundtables, and provocative thought leadershipall tailored to specific organizational roles and functions. The Center is staffed by professionals who bring a wide array of deep, hands-on industry experience.Preferred location is Houston, Texas. May require travel to attend offsite meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions. QualificationsRequired experience and capabilities include:At least eight years of experience in a marketplace analysis role within an energy organization, a consulting role to energy companies, or a publication producing insights for energy companies.At least eight years of direct experience using quantitative, qualitative, and secondary research methods.In-depth knowledge of the energy industry. Strong network of energy contacts preferred.Proven, highly productive writer. Sole or primary author of an extensive portfolio of publications.Conscientious, hard-working, and deadline-driven.Enjoy working independently in virtual teams and in a team environment.Ability to synthesize complex trends and explain them in clear, concise, vibrant prose.Deep interest in energy sectors and the discipline to stay ahead of fast-moving trends.Poised, polished, and professional; proven track record developing relationships with senior executives.Advanced Microsoft Office skills.Preferred:Top-tier MBA or PhD.Strategy consulting experience or respected analyst house experience.Ability to interview executives for podcasts and videos.
