**Role Summary:**

As a Senior Lead System Designer for the Invasive Cardiology group in GE Healthcare you will become a team member on the product development team working on a product that gets used by physicians to help diagnose and treat patients suffering from coronary heart disease and electrophysiology rhythm abnormalities.

**Essential Responsibilities:**

As part of this team, you will actively lead the design, development and testing of innovative technological solutions for a market leading $85 million product line in the field of Hemodynamic and Electrophysiology. You will be responsible for leading program teams to deliver the technical content, performance, intellectual property and quality deliverables. The role drives alignment of program scope to available resources and timing, the architecture, vision and design requirements. The role ensures proper balance between feature and functionality, quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, compliance and cost across programs. This may include the coordination of metrics, dashboards, functional processes, and cross-functional initiative coordination.

Ensuring that the quality targets are satisfied and retires technical risks as they arise on programs

Leading the design team and other LSDs on the design control process from requirements development and design planning to design transfer and product release

Leading the design team and other LSDs in the development of verification and validation planning and execution

Developing requirements flow down, architecture/system design and analysis, risk analysis, integration and test, manufacturing, field and customer support including corrective and preventative actions to ensure customer satisfaction

Driving the architecture, vision and design requirements for the product all the time balancing implementation complexity, risks, manufacturability, serviceability and quality

Leverages knowledge in advanced aspects of technical/functional areas and applies technical theory and practical experience with input from relevant functional areas to solve complex problems

Works independently and possesses a level of functional expertise necessary to influence and execute technical and project delivery execution

Works with patient/customers and/or program leadership to ensure that the project deliverables are consistent with the goals of larger programs or initiatives

Supports mentoring of junior technical talent

Accountable for implementing and teaching engineering standards

Owns the technologies that support competitive technical differentiation

Ability to represent the Invasive team in internal and external audits to demonstrate compliance to the quality system and applicable standards

Responsible for developing engineering estimates for technical aspects of program planning

Communicate status of engineering activities to program leadership and core-team


BS Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering

Seven years of relevant work experience.

Three years of experience in project leadership within a manufacturing, development or research environment

Demonstrated experience driving CTQ flow-down to subsystems

Demonstrated ability to work with technical leadership team to implement product platform/subsystem multi-generation technology plan for a specific release of a global program/product

Demonstrated broad exposure to HW/SW/Systems design and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc)

**Desired Characteristics:**

Masters Degree in Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering

Demonstrated experience with design controls, ISO/EN60601 and regulatory compliance process and design history file

Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues

Demonstrated skills in proactively identifying, facilitating and driving closure of a product/program

Strong interpersonal skills working with development engineers, peers and senior leadership
