The Energy Manager, Caribbean Resiliency works across both the Clinton Global Initiative (70%) and the Clinton Climate Initiative (30%) programs. The incumbent will play an essential role with the Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery to address the immediate response needs, as well as the medium- and long-term recovery in the Carribean region in response to the 2017 hurricanes. The Action Network convenes stakeholders from across sectors and industries to drive action in key focus areas including energy, infrastructure, health, education, and economic development. Members of the Action Network will develop new, specific, and measureable projects \u2013 known as Commitments to Action \u2013 to improve disaster response and support the sustainable, inclusive, and resilient rebuilding of the region.
In close coordination with the CCI Islands Energy Program that aims to accelerate energy transition in small island nations from fossil fuels to clean energy, the Energy Manager will grow the Action Network membership from the private, nonprofit, and government sectors working on energy in the Caribbean. S/He will lead Action Network members in the development of Commitments to Action to address energy sector response and recovery needs.
The incumbent will work with the Clinton Foundation senior leadership and with managers from the Clinton Climate Initiative to execute priority renewable energy projects, including projects under \u201cSolar Saves Lives,\u201d a cross-sector initiative to solarize key infrastructure in Puerto Rico.
Work across the Clinton Foundation to grow the CGI Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery, serving as the primary point of contact (POC) for Action Network members working on energy.
\u2022 Serve as the primary energy POC for members of the Action Network working on all matters related to their engagement and participation.\u2022 Serve as the primary POC internally at the Clinton Foundation on all Action Network recruitment, programming, and commitments related to the energy sector.\u2022 Design and execute Action Network programming opportunities on energy (teleconferences, webinars, or in-person meetings) that are complementary to ongoing CCI efforts.
Manage and execute recruitment of new members for the Action Network, securing the engagement of organizations from the nonprofit, private, and government sectors, including significant representation from the affected islands:
\u2022 Identify, in coordination with other departments across the Foundation, key organizations from the nonprofit, private, and government sectors working in energy to engage in the Action Network.\u2022 Build, develop and nurture relationships with key partners in the region to secure the participation of Action Network members from the affected islands.
Lead Action Network members in the development of Commitments to Action to address energy response and recovery needs:
\u2022 Identify, with support of the CGI team and the CCI Director, the most important topics for the Action Network to address within the energy sector in the Caribbean. \u2022 Identify and develop, with each member, opportunities to create or partner on Commitments to Action.\u2022 Create, with Action Network members, programming opportunities to workshop commitments, raise priority issues, and identify new partners.\u2022 Identify ongoing opportunities for Action Network members to network, learn from each other, and share best practices.\u2022 Track and report the Key Performance Indicators for the Action Network.
Support the execution of at least four in-person Action Network meetings every year (quarterly basis) and lead specific energy focused meetings through the year:
\u2022 Recommend, draft and develop the program and agenda design for quarterly Action Network meetings, in collaboration with other departments and leaders across the Foundation. \u2022 In coordination with other teams of the Clinton Foundation, support all aspects of event logistics.\u2022 Lead the design, strategy, and execution of focused energy meetings (virtual or in-person) throughout the year on different energy topics relevant to members of the Action Network.\u2022 Follow up and report on each event, including but not limited to identifying new members to recruit to the network, advancing specific programming ideas, and finalizing Commitments to Action.
Partner with Managers from the Clinton Climate Initiative to develop and implement priority renewable energy projects, including projects under the Solar Saves Lives initiative:
\u2022 Support lead Project Manager with project development and implementation through pre-feasibility and action plans, procurement processes and documentation, scheduling, task management and cross organization coordination. and contracts review.\u2022 In coordination with CCI Project Manager, manage partnerships under the Solar Saves Lives initiative to secure donations of solar equipment and other in-kind support.\u2022 Provide technical support for the implementation of priority solar and battery storage projects, with a focus in Puerto Rico.\u2022 Investigate and research funding sources and opportunities to provide financial and technical support for renewable energy projects.
\u2022 Occasional travel to hurricane impacted islands in the Carribean and other locations for the CGI Action Network meetings.\u2022 This job description is intended to convey information essential to understand the scope of the position. 1. Education (Minimum Needed and Type of Degree Needed):
\u2022 Minimum Required: Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Economics, Engineering, International Development, Policy, Environment, Sustainability, or other related fields;\u2022 Preferred: Advanced degree in related fields.
2. Work Experience (Minimum Needed):
\u2022 Minimum Required: 2-3 years of experience, including at least 2 years with energy sector issues, general project/program management and/or energy policy.\u2022 Preferred: 1-2 years working in clean energy and/or research area that helped develop relevant skills.
3. Specialized Knowledge Needed for Performance of Job:
\u2022 Must be familiar with key players and constituencies in the energy sector, as well as current trends and future opportunities\u2022 Is familiar with current issues and historical context of the Caribbean region and/or energy projects in a disaster recovery situation\u2022 Has knowledge of energy issues from across nonprofit, for profit, and public-sector perspectives.\u2022 Must have experience in developing and managing relationships with diverse groups and individuals, with a preference for private sector and/or government officials.\u2022 Has experience with business plan development, grant-writing, project design, or other processes resembling Commitment to Action development\u2022 Has experience in meeting and event design and facilitation

Physical and Other Requirements
\u2022 Office Environment: Constant computer work requiring repetitive motion, prolonged sitting and sustained visual/mental demands. Occasional lifting, bending, pulling, collating, and filing, some of which may be heavy (>15 lbs.) and require use of carts.
\u2022 Travel Environment: Occasional long-distance travel (sometimes to developing countries) which may require walking distances, lifting and carrying luggage and boxes (>25 lbs.) or prolonged periods of sitting in tight quarters.
