The Lead Systems Analyst for E&P Applications will analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to implement and improve computer systems. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially available software.  Leads large projects. Functions as primary support for all solutions in multiple disciplines and secondary support for multiple solutions in related disciplines.


Analyze information processing or computation needs and plan and design computer systems, using techniques such as structured analysis, data modeling and information engineering. 

Define the goals of the system and devise flow charts and diagrams describing logical operational steps of programs. 

Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.

Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems.    

Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions to restore normal functioning. 

Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address. 

Interview or survey workers, observe job performance or perform the job to determine what information is processed and how it is processed. 

Coordinate and link the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and so information can be shared. 

Assess the usefulness of pre-developed application packages and adapt them to a user environment. 

Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to aid in decisions on system implementation. 

Train and mentor less experienced analysts in systems analysis and design.

Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users.

Train staff and users to work with computer systems and programs. 

Prepare reports or correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, or status. 

Consult with internal customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance. 

Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.

Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met. 

Consult with engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, develop specifications and performance requirements, or resolve customer problems.

Confer with data processing or project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities for data processing projects.

Advise customer about or perform maintenance of software systems.

Participate in on-call and after hours support, including weekends and holidays.

Lead large projects as defined by scope (budget over $500,000, resource effort over 480 hours, affecting over 500 users, including over 5 business units) and complexity (undefined requirements, interfacing with new applications, development in a new technology, developing new business processes, major dependencies on other projects, coordinating with many internal/external teams).


Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, engineering, or management of information systems

Minimum of 10 years of systems analysis experience

Experience supporting E&P well lifecycle applications is required, Peloton WellView/SiteView is strongly preferred

Experience supporting E&P reserves applications is required, Landmark ARIES is strongly preferred

Experience querying Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases is required

Experience supporting E&P geoscience and engineering applications such as IHS Kingdom, Harmony, or Landmark Compass is a plus

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language

Experience and demonstrated success working in a cross-functional environment

Strong customer focus mindset

Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills

Highly self-motivated and directed

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Experience working individually and in a team-oriented, collaborative environments
